Free Wassiya PDF: Download a Template or Create One in Ten Minutes

In brief: A PDF is a useful guide and storage format, but printing and signing it does not create a French holographic will. Use the PDF to prepare and check the content, then copy the complete final text by hand, add the full date, and sign it—or choose another legally recognised form with professional advice.

Key points to remember

What is a Wassiya PDF, and why do people look for one?

A Wassiya PDF is a downloadable Islamic-will template or a personalised document generated from a questionnaire. People seek one because it supplies a structure, prompts forgotten information, and can be saved or shared with advisers.

The best use of a PDF is as a controlled will. Read every clause, replace every placeholder, verify religious references and French-law limits, and keep private financial information secure.

Why a printed PDF is not legally valid as a holographic will

Article 970 of the French Code civil requires the holographic will to be entirely written, dated, and signed by the testator. A printed PDF fails the handwriting condition even when each page is initialled. To use the holographic form, hand-copy all dispositive wording and execute it properly.

Other testamentary forms exist, including an authentic will before a notary. A complex estate, disability affecting handwriting, or a high risk of challenge calls for tailored advice rather than improvisation.

What a good Wassiya PDF template contains

ElementExpected contentCommon mistake
Religious introductionBasmala and ShahadaOmitted from general templates
Testator identityFull name, birth details, address, family statusIncomplete identity
Financial debtsCreditors, approximate amounts, evidenceInformal loans forgotten
Religious obligationsUnpaid Zakat, fasting, Kaffara, Hajj, entrusted charitable fundsRarely included in generic PDFs
Funeral wishesLocal burial or repatriation, Ghusl, Janazah, cremation instructionsFamily conflict when absent
Testamentary bequestsPrecisely identified beneficiaries and amounts within both legal limitsGift to an heir or excessive gift

It should also cover an executor and substitute, preferred guardian for minor children, document preservation, revocation, full date, and signature.

The one-third rule: what PDFs rarely explain well

The Prophet ﷺ permitted Sa‘d ibn Abi Waqqas to bequeath one third and said that one third was much (Sahih al-Bukhari 2742; Sahih Muslim 1628a). The ceiling applies to the net estate after debts and funeral expenses. It is not a Qur’anic rule and it is not automatically the amount available under French law.

According to the majority view, the voluntary gift should not benefit an existing heir unless the other heirs consent after death: “There is no bequest for an heir” (Sunan Abi Dawud 2870). A template should therefore never pre-fill the spouse or child as a one-third beneficiary without explanation.

Why a guided questionnaire is safer than a blank PDF

A guided tool can ask whether you are married, have minor children, are a convert, hold property abroad, owe Zakat, want repatriation, or need a substitute guardian. It produces clauses only where relevant and makes contradictions easier to spot. A blank page relies on the user already knowing every question.

Guidance still does not replace a French notary or lawyer for real property, international succession, business ownership, disability, blended families, or anticipated litigation.
